Type "E" trucks meet the minimum standards for electrical hazards and fire. This is the most common label applied for electric lift trucks. Trucks described as type "E" cannot be used in unsafe areas. Type "ES" trucks meet all the standards of Type "E" lift trucks and have added equipment so as to prevent the emission of sparks and control the surface temperature of lift truck components.
Type "ES" lift trucks are more specialized and are not usually accessible. Type "EE" lift trucks meet all the requirements of Type "E" and "ES" lift trucks and have all electrical motors and spark producing electrical components completely enclosed because Type "EE" lift trucks are usually used where a dangerous location has been recognized.
